Granada

Leaving for Alhambra this morning the guide told us to one side and gently told Robin that  he did not think it would be possible for him to walk the site as it is very hilly with lots of steps. He accepted that and waited out the visit in a hotel at the site. 

I went on the tour and it was very arduous - cobble stones, very hilly and many steps. The buildings and gardens are very spectacular, all the more amazing in that it was built so many years ago. We spent several hours going around and it was getting pretty hot towards the end but by that time the walk was through shady gardens. 

From there we went straight to Córdoba with just one small break. The countryside is much nicer here than around Valencia. Acres of neat olive trees, corn and sunflowers. Lunch was at Córdoba before a tour of the Mosque which is now a Catholic Church. The guide there spoke good english, and imparted a lot of information  at  top speed. She was keen to point out that the mosque predates the Alhambra by five hundred years. 

After that visit we went straight to Seville where we be staying for three nights.  It will be nice to go at a slightly slower pace.
