Reykjavik Day 2

Our excursion today was titled Luna Landscapes and that was what we saw.  Unlike yesterday's flat lava fields, the Rykjanes Peninsula lava fields are very lumpy and bumpy.

We went to the Kleifarvatn hot springs, which had many really hot pools, in excess of 200 degrees celcius,  bubbling away and smelling strongly of sulphur.

Again we did it in company of lots of tourists. The weather was not the best either, but it was only drizzly so that was fine.  Our last point of call was at the Viking World Museum, to see a full scale replica of a Viking ship discovered in Norway in 1882. The ship had actually been sailed across to New York, as an reenactment of the discovery of the new world by the Vikings, well before Christopher Columbus.
