Portsmouth

On Tuesday we drove back to Ilford to stay a few days with Andy and Pat, and to do our washing,  bob which was knocked off in a few hours, with help from Pat.  They were very happy as they had a new granddaughter at the weekend. Richard and his partner had a baby girl, Edith.

We stayed across the road at the Premior Inn this time as we did not want to push our luck with the Apartment guest room. That night we ate at a new Indian restaurant around the corner at Gants Hill.  Very nice meal which we all enjoyed.

Andy had spoken to Amanda and arranged for her to meet us for lunch on Wednesday,  it was nice to see her.  Pat worked today, but when she returned she produced a nice meal for us - after being out all day!  They both had a busy day the next day, and we were going to drive down to Portsmouth so after watching an interview about Brexit we left them and returned to the hotel room.  During the night, we heard a couple of car alarms nearby - if it was ours, we would sort that out in the morning!

Luckily our car was still there in the morning and we left Ilford for Portsmouth, stopping off at Rustington to visit our friends there. After a nice lunch and a short walk down to the beach we continued on our way.

Margaret was explaining to Robin that before the winter, they were able to sit on the beach house step quite comfortably,  but so many shingles had been deposited that now there was no step into the beach house, it was level with the shingles.

We are now in yet another Premier inn, at Portsmouth.  The drive from Rustington was one roundabout after another -  enough with the roundabouts....!
