Our last full day in Beechworth today and we woke up to heavy rain. After a really nice breakfast at the Beechworth Pantry we drove over to Yackandandah to see what was there. By this time the rain had more or less stopped.
Yackandandah is much smaller than Beechworth and has a lot of 'arty' or new-age shops. We spent sometime in the museum which gave us a feel for Yackandandah's reason for being there - first gold and then timber.

From Yackandandah we retraced our drive to Beechworth and continued on to Stanley, a township mentioned in the guide book. It is obviously higher than Beechworth as we were in the clouds when we got there. It was really murky and as the only building we could see was a pub we decided that time had passed this place by and so should we.
Next stop was back in Beechworth at the Honey shop. Beechworth Honey is well known and available everywhere. We did the tour and learned how honey is produced. My only purchase was a jar of Red Gum Honey - we don't eat much honey and might use it in cooking occasionally.

We drove the round the block to the bakery and had lunch before driving over to Chiltern. This town seemed to consist mainly of bric-a-brac stores, some of which were closed. Robin and I did the usual walk down one side of the street then back up the other, looking in stores that were open. Some were closed, so it had a bit of a rundown feel about it. Nothing jumped out at us in any store demanding to be purchased!
Back at the motel it really poured again - we had timed our touring today very nicely.
