Tuesday 20th March
Our port today was Port Vila, Vanuatu and our excursion was to a traditional village. The village was very well laid out and we were treated to traditional greetings - trying to scare us by suddenly appearing out of the bush.
We learned a lot about the way of life in a traditional village - catching food, cooking, weddings etc. Finally we had a drink and fruit then a ‘skiffle’ group playing their music - tea chest base, bottles, bamboo xylophone
Wednesday 21st March
At sea day on the way to Fiji. We had an invite to a mariner presentation - we had earned ourselves a bronze (colour) medal each for having clocked up 100 days with Holland America, along with about twenty other passengers :-) One passenger was awarded a silver one for 300 days... Pretty sure I won’t be getting one of those. We sat at lunch with that lady and apparently she cruises two or three times a year.
