Segovia

We had an included tour of Madrid in the morning then went straight into an optional  tour to Segovia to see the aqueduct. 

In Madrid we saw the Cervantes monument - surrounded by temporary barriers and portaloos due to the ongoing week of Gay Pride. 

Then we seemed to be stuck in traffic for the next hour having buildings pointed out to us by ‘important’ architects.  Eventually we headed out of the city for Segovia to see the aquaduct 

At the aquaduct we got off the coach just short of it and walked underneath.  We were walked through the town to the town square where we had lunch. It was very pleasant sitting in the square as there was a band playing - nice music too - Carmen and Beatles pieces amongst others.

After lunch we walked to the castle through the narrow cobbled streets. After the castle tour Robin, another tour member (another Robyn) and myself took a taxi to return to the coach as Robin was really struggling with walking by this time. Large coaches cannot get into this hilly towns with narrow streets. I have to admit I was glad not to have to walk back. The rest of the group arrived back about twenty minutes later.

Short break at the hotel and then it was out to the farewell dinner - last event on this group tour. We have had some really lovely people with us and will have good memories of this
