We left Lisbon today for Salamanca - back in Spain. Our route took us via Fatima, a pilgrimage site. In 1917 three children had a visitation from the Virgin Mary. This has turned into big business for the town. Lucky for us it was not a special day so the coach was able to park next to the huge square. There were a few people making their way, on their knees, to the sacred spot where the children saw the apparition..
We arrived in Salamanca at around six in the evening - quite a long day in the coach but an hour less than it appears as Spain is one hour ahead of Portugal.
