A cat day

 Robin had read about De Poezenboot (The Catboat) in the Amsterdam guide book so we decided to have a look at that,  It is a canal boat which is a shelter for abandoned cats.  They all look well fed, and the boat was so clean. When possible the cats are rehoused and since its inception in 1968, has rehoused 1000's of cats. 

The cats have a run outside, overlooking the canal. At first we only saw one or two cats, and then suddenly they started appearing, from under shelves and everywhere it seemed - the staff was getting their food ready - and they knew it. 

One of the cats looked just like our Winchester. He/she was a large cat, long legs but I have to admit It, rather slim compared to our heavyweight!

From there we went to another cat house, but this one one was a canal house on the Herengracht - a very expensive address when it as built in 1968, which is full of cat art.  497 Herengracht, known as The Kattenkabinet, is full of exhibits of cats in art and was created by the owner of the house in 1984. It is still a very expensive address.

The garden behind the house, which was surprisingly large, also had cat based art scattered throughout it.  The house itself would have been really interesting, even without the cat art.
