Queenscliff

Jenny and Michael spent a week down at Queenscliff and we drove around the bay to visit them for the day.  It takes about two hours to drive around the bay from Ferntree Gully.  Sam was also visiting but she was coming across from the peninsula side on the Sorrento Ferry.  When we arrived at the unit we were met by Jen's friend who was also staying with them for a few nights. Jen and Michael were visiting one of Jen's workmates over at Point Lonsdale

When Jenny and  Michael returned the seven of us  went to one of the pubs for lunch and then had a walk around the foreshore, starting with walking to the end of the South Pier.  From there we walked along to the ferry, and up the observation tower. Well, the others walked - I took the lift!

On the way back we went across the level crossing of the Bellarine Tourist Railway, where Thomas the Tank Engine was just being reversed into his siding for the night.

Back up the main street to the unit, and then after a short break we all parted ways.  Jason and Didee headed off home to Ballarat first, and then we left shortly afterwards.  Sam was staying a bit longer before taking the ferry back over to Sorrento.

It was a lovely day - the weather has cooled a lot so that made a difference.  If it had still been in the very high 30's like last week a nice walk would not have been possible

The start of the main street.  Jen and Michael's base for the week was in the block of apartments on the right.  Only about ten minutes direct walk from the ferry.  Very nice apartment too with the added bonus of plenty of guest parking.  It would have been very difficult to park in the street as you can see.
