Ostea

Our aim today was to see the original port of Rome, Ostea.  No longer on the mouth of the Tiber due to centuries of silt, it is now an archeological park.  To get there we braved the metro to Pyramid and then took the train down to Ostea, just a 30 minute trip.

To get to the park entrance was a short walk, which was great as Ostea is huge - only a third has been excavated but that gives over 30 acres to explore!  We spent a long time here, with a lot of people and at least a dozen school trips.  The ruins are in good condition, and we saw a lot of really nice mosaics.
