Last night Robin and I, together with a friend went into the city to see the illuminations for the White Night event. The city was just packed.
We got there before dark, and like last year the first thing we looked at was the display at the side of St Paul's Cathedral.
Following the same route as last year we came out onto Flinders Street again and looked at the illuminations there. Robin took a really good photo showing how crowded the area was.
There seemed to be a circus theme to the lights on the buildings.
The Art Gallery had a tattoo theme, with people baring all to show off their tattoos. These guys were covered in them and they turned around to show all.
The Concert Hall also entered into the fun and had a recital of Rachmaninov playing a selection of his piano concertos - sort of. It was a piano roll recording...
We could have stayed in the city all night as the event was on from 7 pm to 7 am. But, being oldies, by about 11 we decided to head for home - along with a million other people. Flinders Street station was in chaos. The announcer sounded more and more hysterical by the minute. Kate Trent and Campbell were also there - somewhere - trying to get home. Kate thought that the announcer sounded more like a Dalek, and were a bit concerned that anyone stepping out of line might get exterminated.
Eventually we managed to get onto a packed train. Two young girls gave up their seat for Judy and me - some advantage to be grey haired and old! After having walked around the city for over four hours, we were glad to accept.
It was a great night and a very nice atmosphere.

An amazing sight - I like Moses with his 'tablet'!Bet you were glad to get home though, must have been tiring negotiating all those people.
