Ride on Puffing Billy on a wet Saturday

We have had endless days over 30 degrees Celsius here but thankfully that has now broken.  On Sunday we had a trip on Puffing Billy and it was so nice - cool enough to have to wear a jacket and it actually rained - bliss!

Because it rained the steam engine was being used so we were lucky.  The week before, due to the fire risk, it would have been the diesel that was pulling the train.  It has been years since we went on this train - Kate and I know exactly when the last time was - 31st August 1997!

Our train coming down from the hill
The engine at the station just before it was run back down to the front of the train, ready to go back up the hill

Returning along the track to Belgrave

The train is pretty rattly, and the seats are pretty basic, but we enjoyed the trip

Hi Heidi we have seen Puffing Billy on a TV programme such a pretty trip reminds us of our Cairns Holiday when we did the Kuranda Railway. We are glad you had rain we would love some of your sunshine as it never stops raining here and is cold. We did see the Melbourne rain on Saturday as they were covering the Gran Prix qualifying on TV and it had to cancelled and moved to Sunday.Spring is late this year in UK
