Sunday away

Jenny, Kate and I had a pleasant Sunday on our own, mooching around a couple of country towns and then staying the night at Tullamarine Airport.  It happened this way - Jen had to leave Melbourne on an early morning flight and Kate's birthday present from Jen was a voucher redeemable at a Diggers Club garden centre.  So - we decided to have a full day out and then all of us stay up at the airport before going our various ways.

First off we went to the garden of St Erth, where we had a healthy lunch - scones and cream all round.  Then after lunch Kate picked seeds and garden stuff etc. for her late birthday present.  After that we continued on to Trentham, and found quite a lot there. It is an interesting town, very small but plenty of  nicnacky shops for us  to look around. We found the station which now a private residence and if we had been earlier we would have seen the town market there, but we were too late for that.

No point in checking your watches, Girls  -  you have missed the last train by 33 years...
After the town we drove on to Trentham Falls and then on to Woodend.  By this time it was getting a bit late and the touristy shops were closing. We did manage to find a second hand book shop open and of course, I did find a book that I thought I needed.
From Woodend we drove to the airport and checked into the hotel.  Dinner was in the hotel too - we did have a walk through the airport but the hotel restaurant was more appealing.  The girls had a very unusual desert - Mars bar spring roll, served with ice cream and praline.  They enjoyed it but thought it was really rich!

Back in the room we could look out over the airport and watched the planes landing and leaving.  We decided to watch a movie - The Help - which I thought was really good.
The view from the hotel room  - Jen only had to walk over in the morning to check in for her flight.
In the morning we walked with Jenny over to the airport then retrieved the car and Kate drove into work - a nice little break for us all.
