Lyon

On the water-taxi to the station
We took an early water-bus to the railway station to pickup our train to Milan.  It was a nice last look at the Grand Canal.  But we do think the luggage is getting heavier as the trip goes on - and I haven't purchased anything!

The train to Milan took only around three hours and as soon as the luggage was dropped off we went into the city centre to see the Doumo.

We did stop off at La Scala and had a look inside that. There was a dress rehearsal in progress so we could not do a full tour, but then we did see a rehearsal, which was good.

After that we walked through the Victor Emanuel Galleria to see the Doumo.  We have seen it before, some years ago but where not able to go into it. This time we did go in and it is really impressive - so high.

Back into the Galleria for a late lunch and then we walked back to the hotel.

The next day we used the Metro to see a few more sights of Milan, starting with the Castle which we had not seen before. Behind the castle is a huge park as as it was Sunday there were so many people jogging, cycling, kids playing and others just soaking up the sun.  It was a lovely day.

Lyon

We are now in Lyon and have just returned from a walk down to the Rhone. Tomorrow we take the train down to Valance and meet up with Gerard and Michel to have a few days with the family.
