Jenny and I had our usual visit to the Open. Nick and Jaimi came with us too. This year we bought ticket for the Hisense arena and watched three matches. Our seats were pretty good - high up and in the shade which was good as it turned into a very sunny day and of course the roof was open.
The first was Novak Djokovic against Viktor Troicki. Quick match that one as Troicke retired hurt after the first set, so Djokovic won.
Second match was Andy Roddick against Robin Hasse. After a short while we thought it was going to be another quick match as Hasse started hobbling but when his foot was strapped up he was able to continue and put up a brave fight. However, Roddick won after four sets. I was really pleased with the photographs I was able to take with my new E-PL1.
The third match was very dull - when it eventually started. The hold up was a 'dead spot' on the court where the ball just did not bounce. This took twenty minutes, and the involvement of half a dozen people to eventually fix.
That turned out to be most entertaining part of the match which was Maria Sharapova against Julia Goerges and it was just a to and fro pitter patter. We left after the first set and wandered around the grounds to see what was happening there. There were a few tents providing entertainment for kids and goes on Wii and that sort of stuff.

What a cool tradition! I've been to a handful of professional sports games, but never tennis. That would be so fun!
