Great Victorian Bike ride

We drove over the Black Spur to meet up with Sam at Alexandra.  She is having a great time on the bike ride with her friend and her family.  Yesterday they had hail to contend with - apparently it was a good job they all had helmets on.  Even so, there was so much hail that Sam had it caught up in her hair.

After their lunch stop they headed up to Eildon - quite a hill - and that was the overnight stop.  Tomorrow Marysville and the end of the ride. We are very proud of Sam for completing the ride, nearly six hundred kilometres in nine days.  The first day was enough to put anyone off - rain all the day - but she stuck to it.

Once they headed off after their short lunch break, Robin and I had a stop at the Alexander bakery and then continued on to Bonnie Doon as the water has returned under the bridge.  It is years since we have seen water here and it was lovely to see it.  The water is already deep enough for boats - and we saw a few of them too.

Looking over the bridge we spotted a large fresh water turtle - his carapace must have been the size of a large dinner plate. I wonder where he was holding out while the lake bed was bone dry?
