The Mandarin Tree

Up to this week we have not had a lot of rain but our fairly young mandarin tree has been trying to hang in there. When we came back from holiday we thought it was a goner - most of the leaves had gone but despite that a couple of mandarin's were still on the tree.

Last week we had a torrential downpour in this area - 36 mm in a a few hours - and the tree has made a remarkable recovery. New leaves have appeared up the trunk and it looks like it might recover. Isn't nature wonderful. We do need to keep the water up to it to ensure that it continues well - back to buckets in the shower to collect the water we waste until the correct temperature is reached - a pain but if it keeps the tree going it will be worthwhile.
