Tramboat ride

I was lucky enough to get asked to go on a trip on the Tramboat going up the Maribynong.  The event was as a thank you for the volunteers that helped with an organisation I volunteer with.  We left from the Docklands area and turning into the river we had good views of the city.  Going up the river was really nice.  It only took about twenty minutes, if that, to leave the dock area behind and then we were in a very quite river area, with cycle path along it, and some really nice houses.

It didn't take the forty of us long to board and get settled.

The weather was good, and so I went on the top of the boat.  Only one other person was game to do that as it was windy but it we had much better views of the banks of the river as we went along.  Some of the bridges are really low , one so much so that the rail had to be lowered before the boat could get under it as it was high tide while we were on our trip. Obviously we were not allowed on top then!

We went through Footscray and moored at Essendon.  Here we took a short walk to Poyntons Nursery.
It has to be one of the best I have ever been to - it was huge. 

 On the way back there were a few short speeches and some presentations for long service.  One lady had been with the group for 35 years.
