Montevideo

We now head north to warmer weather.  It took two days to reach Montevideo which is on the east shore of the River Plate.  We moored early morning and our tour for the day was fairly early too.  The city is not that large and it was a public holiday day so there were not that many people around - except on the beaches, of which the guide told us there were twenty two miles of them.  It looked a really nice place.  

Once back at the port we went into a large market of which the food hall part specialised in the food of the area - BBQ.  It was really busy, with tourists milling about and even more locals sitting eating and watching them mill about.  The heat was really  something due to the very large numbers of open coal bbq's and it all smelt, and looked, really delicious.  You could have meat, meat and meat.
