Tuesday morning we started our holiday with an early morning flight to Auckland, then after some hours wait another on to Santago.
We had arranged a pickup from the airport to take us to our hotel at Valparaiso, a distance of around one hundred kilometres. Part of the deal was a visit to a winery, and it turned out to be a fantastic visit. The winery was just beautiful, with alpacas and chickens running freely about the place.
We had a really good guide who very enthusiastically explained the workings of the winery and then took us through the wine tasting. It was all beautifully presented.
Our driver wanted to go to another winery but we declined - we had so much wine already. Both of us where getting a bit sleepy (the wine maybe?) and we really wanted to get to the hotel. We had been travelling over twenty four hours from early Tuesday morning and it was still only mid afternoon Tuesday....
Tomorrow, Valparaiso - I knew it was hilly but I don't think I realised just how hilly. There are steps everywhere in the streets - long flights of them! We shall see how we go...
