The Rainham Marshes were not useable for much - army training during the war, that sort of thing. But it has been taken over by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) and is now a bird sanctuary. We were so glad we went there as it is a lovely place for a walk. We were lucky and got back to the cafe there just in the nick of time before it poured with rain.
It is our last morning here now. We will check out and meet Andy at Nell's place then have lunch together. After that we will drive to Gatwick and drop of our horrible car (a boys toy sporty thing- just because we need an automatic!) and get the flight home. It has been a good holiday.
