Lunch at the Botanical Gardens

Jenny Katy and I did lunch at the Botanical Gardens out at Cranbourne on Monday.  It was very cold but once we got walking around the garden we did not feel it.  We walked around the formal part of the garden first.

A lot of work had been done to the garden since the last time we were here.  It now had a large water feature   that would be really nice on a hot day - the girls tried it out even though it was not very warm today.
The water feature
It said paddle between the flags!

We came across the children's playground and Kate just had to see if she could still fit into the slide - she could...

Bit tricky as Kate was all togged up against the cold..
Getting out was a bit tricky too..
We were just getting into our stride so we continued up to the lookout.  Even though the day was overcast it was reasonably clear  and we could see the city quite clearly against the skyline - it is about 45 kilometres away.

For the first time ever I saw a Bandicoot - and a fat little thing it is too. We only spotted one of those but we did see quite a number of little blue wrens in the garden.  They are so pretty - and fast.  Very difficult to catch with a hand held camera

Coming down from the lookout Jen suggested we walk on to the swamp.  It now has some water in it, first time since 2001, so it looks like a swamp again.

Overall we would have walked a few kilometres - so nice to be out even though it was cold to start with.  You soon warm up once you get walking.

Nice to see that you all have to wear winter coats etc sometimes! Love the little blue wren - what amazing colour.
